If The Shoe Fits

As I sit at home in the last week of May, I find myself reflecting on my artistic journey over the past ten years. It's humbling to think about the people my work has inspired and its impact on the next generation. Knowing that my stories could influence future leaders is very satisfying. This inspired my newest photo journal, "If The Shoe Fits," photographed by my friend, Kreshonna Keane.

This project celebrates my personal growth by telling a story that features me and a young, talented creative, Moustapha Fall. I've watched Moustapha grow as a model over the past few years. Despite being often overlooked, he remained determined to get his first big break, which came when he was cast in Jump Ball: Brooklyn in the spring of 2022. We've stayed connected ever since because I see a lot of myself in him. Mo, a young West African, juggles basketball and modeling. His passion, confidence, and vibrant personality inspired me to celebrate his potential while honoring my own journey.

I want everyone to succeed, but it's especially rewarding to support young people who look like me. Whether through creative advice, networking, or Zoom calls, I'll always help those who relate to my experience. In these times of creative fatigue and dwindling artistic value, I hope this story restores some faith because that's what we truly need

*If The Shoe Fits* translates to seeing myself in a lot young black men that are on a similar path. If the shoe indeed fits, then this story directly celebrates you. However, if it does not, I hope this story still serves as inspiration to stay the course. No journey is linear!
